Detailed guidance on how to install Windows 7 on a virtual drive

You want to install Windows 7 for your computer, however, you do not have the installation disk, Windows 7 ghost files, USB or any other storage device. You only have computers, Internet and Windows 7 installation ISO file. Do not worry, in this article, will give you instructions to install Windows 7 on a virtual drive by PowerISO.

1. Preparation for installing Windows 7 on a virtual drive

- A computer with a minimum configuration of 9GB hard drive, 512 Mb RAM that is installed an OS, can boot into Windows, is not affected by virus that blocks .exe file.

- An installation files that has the extension. Iso of Windows 7 operating system (eg Windows 7.iso)

- A virtual drive software: PowerISO, UltraISO, ect. In this article, Betdownload uses PowerISO. Install PowerISO to your computer like other software.

- The partition for Windows 7 on the virtual disk must be formatted as NTFS.

If it is not formatted as NTFS, press Start/ Run(Windows + R), type CMD and press Enter. Then perform the following DOS command:

convert [partition] :/ fs: ntfs (Where [partition] is the partition you want to convert)

For example: convert C :/ fs: ntfs

Then the screen will display "Enter the current volume label for driver C:" enter the name of C drive, for example, Windows 7. Finally, when the process is complete, restart your computer.

2. Install Windows 7 on a virtual drive

- Open My Computer, then right-click the virtual drive created by PowerISO, go to PowerISO, select "Mount Image to Drive [G:]"

- point to the ISO file for installing Windows 7.

- Open the virtual drive to check the Windows 7 installation files, we can see the files are fully preserved.

- Double-click the setup.exe file to start installing Windows 7. The installation interface appears, click Install now:

- Select your language settings as shown below and click Next

- Wait a moment, select "I accept the license terms" and click "Next"

- Choose Custom (Advanced) instead of Upgrade (since we are installing a new OS)

- Choose your setting partition (can install on the old partition or a new partition) and click Next / OK

- The installation process begins and you just need to wait until it finishes. The computer will reboot and you can use the Windows 7 operating system smoothly.
